Update: Catriona Menzies-Pikeessays on Parramatta

Call for EOIs | September 2018

The Sydney Review of Books invites expressions of interest to write a 3000-5000w essay on Parramatta for the journal. This essay will form part of an ongoing portfolio of essays on place published on the Sydney Review of Books. Our place essayists have drawn on history, memoir, urban studies, literary history and other disciplinary tools to explore relationships between place and culture.

We’re looking for EOIs that are rooted in the physical and social geography of Parramatta. If you’re interested, please submit a >300w pitch outlining the essay they want to write and a brief cover letter that maps your writing experience, your relationship to Parramatta, and interest in this project. Essay drafts will be due in early November 2018. The successful applicant will be paid $1200 to write the essay.
