Mangroves

Parramatta: A Dictionary of Place and Memory - M

For years the mangroves alongside Parramatta River were cut down because they were considered ugly.

More recently they have been protected because they’re key to the health of estuaries.

Now students taking Biology in their senior years will visit Sydney Olympic Park to study these trees and their surroundings as one of their chosen ecosystems.

For a ghostly photo, take a picture of mangroves in black and white.
