Prabha's Walk

Parramatta: A Dictionary of Place and Memory - P

I still remember when Prabha Arun Kumar was killed.

I still remember her every time I walk up that hill and I pause to look at the plaque on the bench about halfway up.

A grainy outline on CCTV. This sentence is in a story of mine and it is a reference to her.

Since 2014, I have googled occasionally to see if there’s any news about who killed her but there hasn’t been much since she died.

I once thought what would happen if there were a full memorial at every place a woman has been killed as an act against forgetting and to remember that they once lived.

In memory, Prabha Arun Kumar (1973-2014).
