Gaele Sobott

Gaele Sobott lives on Darug land in Western Sydney. Her publications include Colour Me Blue, a collection of short stories, and My Longest Round, the life story of Wally Carr. Gaele’s short stories and poems are published in literary magazines and anthologies in Australia and overseas, and her animated poems have received international film awards. She has a PhD in literature from the University of Hull, England.

Run-down and on the verge of burnout, I will continue making art, imagining radically different futures during my best commutes, dancing, dog paddling upwards towards the clouds, doing breaststroke through the air, gliding. I pull into my driveway in Blacktown, the western suburbs where, as one young arts worker once said, we have the best sunsets.
