Old Magic

Parramatta: A Dictionary of Place and Memory - O

In his novel American Gods, Neil Gaiman’s migrants take with them their myths and gods.

When moving places, we take with us our supernatural creatures, our concept of the sacred, as well as the old magic.

In the new place, some magic works, other rituals fail. With time, the old and new begin to blend into a peculiar hybrid.

In Parramatta, can there be a vampire, a ghost and a jinn?
