Parramatta: A Dictionary of Place and Memory - O
In this list of five Indonesian writers everyone should read, Intan Paramaditha delves into the politics of lists, that in the act of listing, one enters into the territory of excluding.
After going through Paramaditha’s essay, I begin to compile my own list of writers to read.
I wonder how many will be in bookstores, how many on the shelves of the library.
There is no time limit on seeking out these writers that Paramaditha recommends.
They are Ayu Utami, Eka Kurniawan, Nukila Amal, Seno Gumira Ajidarma and Norman Erikson Pasaribu.
If you haven’t read Paramaditha’s books already, I would recommend The Wandering and the short story collection Apple and Knife, both translated by Stephen J. Epstein.
