Starting Out

I am conscious these days of new writers: the first words being written, the first book being published. I try to make space for them in what I read so the next generation (not an age thing) is supported as they’re starting out.

 The Writing Zone, Finishing School Collective, the work of Westwords, Hatch, any sort of program for emerging writers and artists is critical. While we may support a big theatre or symphony, it is important to also seek the work of those putting out their first public feet.
